IBM Associate System Engineer Placement Interview By Ankita Singh
December 6th 2020 472
Firstly, you have to apply for the job posting by filling a form on the IBM jobs portal. Filling the form states that you are interested in pursuing a job at IBM. Many students fill the form, but filling the form doesn't guarantee that you will be getting a chance to appear in the selection rounds for the job. Many of my friends have filled the form, but only a few got the opportunity.
Now you will get an email from IBM to attend their off-campus placement process. Only people receiving this email are allowed to appear for the selection process. Further instruction regarding the process will be in the email. Make sure you apply for the Associate System Engineer post on the IBM Jobs portal before reaching the venue.
Day 1: Cognitive Test, Coding and Technical MCQ Round
After reaching the venue, I got the formalities done. Now the process starts. First round was the Cognitive Test. Cognitive games are basically simple games with some time limit. Details about the games can be easily found on the internet. It was an elimination round and IBM had a predefined cutoff for this round. After clearing this, we had coding round & technical mcqs. There was one coding question and 30 minutes was provided for the coding round. The difficulty level of questions was moderate. There were 5 technical mcqs (easy-moderate), 15 minutes was given for mcqs. Mcqs and coding marks are considered separately for qualifying the round. After this, there was a Verbal ability (moderate to hard) test. It was designed in a kind of game way. Choose the correct spelling, Choose the correct meaning of words, etc. was there in the Verbal ability round. I would like to advise you all that in Cognitive games and Verbal ability rounds, some questions may be tough. Don't answer them wrongly. Skip the questions whose answers you don't know, as there is negative marking.
Day 2: Technical Face-To-Face Interview
On day 2, I had my final round i.e. technical face-to-face interview. The interview went pretty good. Interviewer asked questions about my final year project, MySQL,etc. All the questions asked were from my CV only. So only mention the things you know. It's okay if you don't know any answer, just say you don't know the answer. One more thing: don't lose the confidence throughout the interview.
P.S. : IBM supports women empowerment, so they provide various interview opportunities for girls. Make sure to grab one!!!!.
